What is Barite ?
Barium is an important barium-containing mineral. It has high specific gravity (4.3-4.7), low hardness (3-3.5), stable chemical properties, insoluble in water and acid, and barite can be used as a white pigment (commonly known as Lide Powder), can also be used in the chemical industry, papermaking, textile fillers and other industrial sectors. After being crushed and ground by a grinding mill, barite becomes barite powder, also known as natural barium sulfate, which is widely used in petroleum, chemical, paint, filler and other industrial sectors. 1. Mud weighting agent for drilling: The main purpose of barite powder is to be used for drilling mud weighting agent. Generally, the fineness should reach 325 mesh or more, the specific gravity is required to be greater than 4.2, the content of BaSO4 is 90% to 95%, and the soluble salt is less than 1. %.2. Radiation-proof cement, mortar and concrete, etc.: Utilizing the high specific gravity of barite, the requirement for content of impurities is low, and the whiteness is basically not required. The specific gravity is 4.2 or more, and the fineness is generally 325 mesh.
3. Barium compound: Barium oxide, barium carbonate, barium chloride, barium nitrate, precipitated barium sulfate, barium hydroxide and other chemical raw materials can be produced by using barite as raw material. The fineness requirement is generally around 800 mesh.
4. Lithopone pigment: Lithopone is a commonly used high-quality white pigment that can be used as a raw material for paints and painting pigments. The barite powder used to prepare lithopone pigment requires a fineness of at least 1250 mesh, a BaSO4 content of greater than 95%, and a whiteness requirement of generally greater than 90.
5. Paint filler: Barite powder filler can increase the thickness, strength and durability of the paint film. Lithopone pigment is also used in the manufacture of white paint, which has more advantages than lead white and magnesium white when used indoors. The barite powder used in the paint industry requires a fineness of 2000 mesh or more and a whiteness of 95 or more.
6. Fillers in paper, rubber and plastic industries: Barite powder as a filler can improve the hardness, wear resistance and aging resistance of rubber and plastics. The requirements for the fineness of barite powder are generally between 500 mesh and 1250 mesh.
